It does not cover public officers (Public Service Division, Jul 2026), so MOE-employed teachers appear to be outside it. Private education employers with 25 or more employees will be covered.

Maritime Labour Convention amendments approved by the International Labour Conference on 6 Jun 2025 (shore leave, repatriation costs, protection against violence and harassment on board) are expected to enter into force on 23 Dec 2027. The ILO has also agreed to a joint ILO-IMO review of seafarers' hours of work and rest; no meeting date is set. The Workplace Fairness Act 2025 (covering disability and mental health conditions) is targeted to commence around end-2027.
